Alumni IMPACT 35 COMPANIES ACQUIRED ECONOMIC IMPACT The types of jobs being created by MassChallenge and the startups we support are high quality and have a disproportionately more positive impact on economic growth than other types of jobs. A recent study by Enrico Moretti at UC Berkeley shows that the high-tech, high-paying jobs created by startup companies have a multiplier effect on the local economy: for every one job created by a startup, five additional jobs are created in 835 the local service economy. STARTUPS This means that MassChallenge has directly generated ACCELERATED 6,500 jobs and indirectly contributed to the creation of approximately 32,500 jobs — on the same overall spend.
